Preaching The Word
There is an exclusive and powerful relationship between the word of God and our immortality. The preaching of the gospel results in new birth (1 Peter 1:23). And this regeneration - this new creation - is a glorious thing to behold in the lives of people. You can literally see this new life demonstrated in new attitudes, new thoughts, new behaviors, new loves, and new hates. The word of God not only produces new life but it also sustains it. The preaching of the word is as important to the spiritual life of a believer as milk is to a baby (1 Peter 2:2). Once we begin to understand that the word produces and sustains eternal life we can readily understand why the ministry of God’s word is the single most important feature of the church. According to the apostle Paul it is the preaching of sound doctrine that ensures the salvation of the congregation (1 Timothy 3:16). Hence, Paul commands Timothy to unrelentingly “Preach the word!” (2 Timothy 4:2). At Faith Community Church the preaching and teaching ministry of the word of God is truly paramount.
